It might be interesting to know, and not surprising, that many films have been shot in the West, especially the Rockies.
More photos along the highway to Revelstoke and here are a few titles of movies if interested.
"River of no Return" 1953 staring Marilyn Monroe
"The Emperor Waltz" 1946 staring Bing Crosby.
"Little Big Man" 1970 with Dustin Hoffman
"Buffalo Bill and the Indians" 1976 with Paul Newman
One of my favourite movies "Legion of the Fall" 1993 staring Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins
Lots more snow as we get higher in the mountains. Thank God for all new tires on our wee Honda Civic.
A huge raven asking for attention at the car. I closed the window because this raven was almost a foot tall???
"Open Range" 2003 with Kevin Costner, Robert Duvall, and Annette Bening
"Assassination of Jesse James" 2006 with Brad Pitt
A Random thought
A legend developed that England would not fall to a foreign invader so long as there were ravens at the Tower of London; although this is often thought to be an ancient belief, the official Tower of London historian, Geoff Parnell, believes that this is actually a romantic Victorian invention
Just saying....
"Death Hunt"1981, an oldie with Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin
Award winning "Brokeback Mountain" 2005 with Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, which many thought was filmed in Wyoming.
"The Edge" 1996 staring Anthony Hopkins and Alex Baldwin.
We are almost there!!! Crossing into the province of British Columbia.
We had meant to go to Lake Louise, Banff and Canmore, but we kind of got confused by the signs and our GPS (Daisy) was not helping....so off we go to Golden, BC for the night and Revelstoke the next day.
And especially one of my other favourites "X-Men 2" 2003 with Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry
Highway 5 connects Edmonton to Vancouver. Known also as the 'Highway Thru Hell.'
The roads are windy, steep and caution is a must. There is a 1,244 meter mountain pass that is nerve wracking even in good weather.
Be prepared and take your time.
Cool rock cut at the bottom of a 17 km steep hill.
Are we there yet Debbie????
