"The Eagles are Coming"

On our way back from Whale Watching we could see this Bald Eagle from a long ways away.
Incredibly abundant numbers of them all around this area.

These amazing birds winter along the coasts.

It is primarily a fish eater and thus it was it's downfall.  With the pesticides that contaminated the marine life and hunting and poaching....as well as our population encroaching on their territories....the Bald Eagle numbers went drastically down.  Banning of the damaging pesticides have helped and the numbers are increasing again.

In 2007 it was on the Endangered Species list everywhere but Alaska and northern and central British Columbia.

Because of the efforts on the part of the conservationists, the Bald Eagle is now off the Endangered List.

It is an incredible sight when taking flight.

I hope our efforts to make our Environment a priority will save our wildlife.....before it is too late.
